Junior Achievement’s mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy utilizing our three pillars for success: entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness.
About
Junior Achievement empowers students to own their economic future. Through professionally developed, age-appropriate programs, students from Kindergarten through 12th grade, are provided the experiences that prepare young people for adulthood by showing them not only how to generate wealth, but how to effectively manage it. This includes how to create jobs that make their communities more robust and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action to help strengthen their communities. Junior Achievement’s program content focuses on providing young people with a foundation of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will empower them to own their economic future. For many students, JA programs are their first introduction to a world outside of their own neighborhood, opening students’ minds to a new realm of possibilities for their lives. Notably, JA Alumni have reported following the career footsteps of those volunteers that devote their time to teaching them from an early age about entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness.
JA’s unique strength is that we utilize volunteers from local businesses to deliver our programs. These volunteers facilitate the JA activities, share their personal and professional experiences with the students, and bring relevance to the students’ education while serving as positive role models and mentors for the students. Educators have reported that the volunteer is critical to the JA experience. JA offers 1,500 corporate and community volunteers the opportunity to serve over 80 schools in Tarrant County and touch the lives of approximately 20,000 students.
